3S Artspace names Beth Falconer new executive director

The board of 3S Artspace, the alternative multidisciplinary arts organization that presents and supports artists and performers in Portsmouth, NH, is delighted to announce a new executive director after an in-depth search process.

After almost six months learning about more than 50 candidates, the search committee, with input from search firm Koya Leadership Partners and the community at large, has selected Beth Falconer, of Byfield, Mass., to take the helm and guide 3S staff and board through an exciting new period of growth and transition. Falconer will start part-time on Sept. 12 and by Oct. 31, she will be full-time and ready for full immersion in the city's vibrant arts scene.

Falconer's name is not new to the local arts community. She has served in her current role as executive director of the Firehouse Center for the Arts in Newburyport, Mass., for more than six years, where she also served as director of development. She has vast experience in creative programming and community engagement. She also has expertise in all areas of fundraising, including annual appeal, membership campaigns, individual giving, foundation giving and business sponsorships.

Falconer also enjoys building partnerships and developing strategic plans and programming for an organization. She has spent eight years working in New Hampshire as well, and is very familiar with the Seacoast arts community.

"I am thrilled to begin working with the 3S team," Falconer said. "During the interview process I was greatly impressed by the vision and energy that went into making this contemporary, creative space come to life. The passion for the mission was present in every board, staff, and community stakeholder I had the pleasure to speak with. I look forward to developing new programs and audiences that compliment this vision."

Falconer will take the reins from interim executive director, Karil Reibold, who 3S organizers credited for an excellent performance as interim executive director, and been a major contributor to the success of 3S. Reibold will continue to be a vital member of the organization helping with the transition.

"During my time at 3S Artspace, I have seen its staff and board continue to come together and emerge a stronger team and 3S a better space to showcase the art and artists of our community, and those that travel to us. I have no doubt that Beth will bring the spark and direction to take us on our next leg of the journey," said Reibold.
