We're proud to announce that Sub Pop recording artists Debo Band will be making an appearance on the Seacoast for a night of groundbreaking Ethiopian pop music in Kittery, ME. The show is co-presented by 3S Artspace, Education for All Children (EFAC) and The Dance Hall.
Debo Band is an eclectic 11-member group that has quickly made their mark in today's music scene by taking a different approach to traditional Ethiopian music. Their all-original arrangements incorporate traditional scales and vocal styles, alongside American soul and funk rhythms. In 2012, Debo Band was listed on NPR Music’s 50 Favorite Albums of 2012.
Opening act Mike Marchand will be playing a DJ set of classic Afro-beat and Afro-caribbean tunes. Doors at The Dance Hall will open at 7pm and the show will begin at 7:30pm.
Tickets go on sale Wednesday, February 13 and can be purchased in advance for $15 at Bull Moose Music or at Brown Paper Tickets. Tickets will also be available the day of the concert for $18. The Dance Hall is located at 7 Walker Street, Kittery, ME.
Show sponsors include AJ’s Wood Grill Pizza and We Care Cleaners.
