Join us for a performance pairing modern dance by Exit Dance Theatre and a live music score by indie rock band Tiger Saw. Tiger Saw will perform their 2019 albumThe Featherweight in its entirety withchoreography by Fontaine Dubus, Sarah George, Lizzy Keery, and Erin Staffiere. The show is full of funk and soul rhythms that will get audiences moving!

Exit Dance Theatre and Tiger Saw have been planets in the same orbit for decades. Company members and band members have performed together over the years in a range of theater productions and music reviews, a frequent occurrence with Newburyport-based artists. The idea of choreographing to a Tiger Saw album was proposed years ago, pre-Covid, and both groups are extremely excited to finally bring the project to the stage at 3S Artspace.

About Exit Dance Theatre:
Exit Dance Theatre, a modern dance company based in Newburyport, MA was founded in 1987 by Susan Atwood, Fontaine Dollas Dubus, Cheryl Fisher, Stephen Haley and Linda Lazzaro. For 38 years, this highly innovative dance company’s beating heart has been cutting edge choreography propelled by company-wide collaboration, suffused with narrative: dance in service to story. The company has grown to fourteen-plus members since its early days. Exit’s style is deeply rooted in theater techniques and improvisation. Founding members wanted the movement to open up beyond traditional styles in order to explore the limitless range of possibilities through the body, not the head; through imagining, not thinking. Exit has incorporated text, poetry, live music and theater into its many works.

About Tiger Saw:
The beloved indie rock band Tiger Saw formed in Newburyport, MA in 1999.They have long been the preeminent indie rock band of the Seacoast area, playing hundreds of shows across three continents. The band's sound has evolved over the years- from their slowcore roots to a DIY "basement soul" era, Americana/country collaborations, to the current expansive, experimental pop sound. The ever-changing lineup has included 65 different players on record, and even more in a live setting.The current lineup includes Alan Bull, Guy Capecelatro III, Chris Côté, Marc McElroy, Dylan Metrano, Erik Tans, and Kelsey Wilson.
