Mike Love is a musician devoted to revolution through sound. Born in O’ahu, Hawaii to a family of musicians, Mike has used music as a conversation for as long as he can remember. He comes from a unique convergence of influences, yet all are bound by their common ambition to inspire positive change in the world. He releases his music independently on his own Love Not War Records label, and his sound, while rooted in the spirituality and message-based music of roots reggae, fuses a variety of influences including progressive and classic rock, soul, blues, flamenco, jazz, classical, and more.
Mike’s songs possess wisdom and seek to instill change, whether it be regarding issues of the environment, animal cruelty, or personal growth. They are about being conscious and mindful as human beings living among so many other life forms on this beautiful planet. For Mike, music is a form of healing, learning, and growing.
About Hector Lewis:
Hector “Roots” Lewis is an actor, Grammy-nominated musician and educator born and raised in the Caribbean island of Jamaica. His profound love for music began during his early days in his hometown parish of St. Catherine. His mother, the legendary Reggae songbird Barbara Jones, continues to have a major influence on his approach to music and the performing arts –honing his talent that boasts an eclectic blend of classic influences and modern sounds.
In 2024, Hector made his Hollywood acting debut in the highly anticipated biopic, Bob Marley: One Love, alongside Kingsley Ben-Adir in the lead role as the iconic singer and activist and Lashana Lynch as his wife, Rita Marley. Hector’s character, the legendary Carlton “Carly” Barrett - who was Bob’s long-time drummer - brings a parallel vision to Lewis’ own reality.
Recognized as a seasoned percussionist who has toured and performed around the world as a career musician, Hector’s on-screen magic is intertwined into his innovative style and versatile understanding of reggae music.
Hector’s artistry is inspired by organic productions deeply-rooted within various types of global Indigenous music. He honours this connection in all performance forms, which is the where his nickname “Roots” was born. At the very nucleus of his unique musicality is Rastafari culture – bridging the sacred connection between the past and present and the celebration of the human and spiritual experience. A self- professed “student of music” who holds a degree in Music Education and Performance, Lewis’ love for educating is linked to his firm belief in music’s ability to heal, connect, evolve, and create transcendental experiences. As an industry thought-leader, Hector is often sought after as a panellist and workshop lead.
His multifaceted capabilities LEWIS span several genres: including Latin, African, Kompa, Pop, Bouyon, Reggae, Calypso and Dancehall. Hector has a distinctive and creative ability to fuse these genres based on his vocal genius and is always looking for ways to create a new vibe with his musical passion. His debut EP, D’Rootsman was released in 2022 and reflects these synergies. The versatile 5-track offering includes popular singles such as Ups And Downs, Let’s Groove, and Nuh Betta Than Yard.
Having collaborated with several notable artists such as Chronixx, Tribal Seeds, Collie Budz, Jesse Royal, Keznamdi, Lila Ike, Mortimer, Julian Marley, Beres Hammond, and Popcaan along his journey – Hector Lewis is poised to blaze a musical trail in his own right among a new generation of Reggae artists. With a legacy as diverse as his sound, his lyrical content revolves around revolution, righteousness, and resilience for the people - to document a journey that defines this performance artist as a beloved, well-respected contributor towards the development of the international entertainment community.
