Portsmouth, NH July 28, 2026— 3S Artspace is pleased to present An Evening with Portland Ballet on Saturday, August 15, from 7 – 9:30pm, a dynamic, multi-part performance that invites audiences to experience the artistry, athleticism, and emotional power of contemporary ballet in an intimate setting.
Spanning both the Gallery and Performance Space, the evening features three compelling works by Portland Ballet's acclaimed choreographers. Audiences will move through the Gallery and Performance Space as the performances unfold, creating an immersive experience that brings them closer to the dancers and choreography than in a traditional theater setting.
The program includes an excerpt from Impetus, choreographed by Artistic Director Nell Shipman, an energetic work set to Karl Jenkins' Palladio that celebrates perseverance and human determination through dynamic ensemble movement. Antithesis, by Jackson Gormley and Rebecca Woll, reimagines two contrasting works by modern dance pioneer Isadora Duncan, stitching together themes of innocence and maturity, purity, and intensity. The evening concludes with Shipman's Four Seasons, created during the pandemic and set to Vivaldi's iconic score, exploring how shared experiences shape individuals and communities through moments of hope, desperation, confinement, and freedom.

Following the performance, audiences are invited to remain for a brief conversation with the dancers, choreographers, and Portland Ballet's Executive Director, Melissa Martens Yaverbaum
offering insight into the creative process behind the works.
The evening also includes small-plate bites and a cash bar.
Tickets are $45 General Admission, $40 for 3S Members, and $30 for Students. The performance runs 7 – 9:30pm with one brief intermission.
Please note that a portion of the event takes place in the Gallery and is standing. Seating accommodations are available upon request, and the remainder of the performance is fully seated.
