Call for recipes + food stories from the Seacoast Community

Deadline to submit extended to Wednesday, April 24

In June, 3S Artspace will welcome an exhibition of drawings by artist Laura Tanner in the Gallery. Dish is an ongoing project that studies regional foodways, such as the eating habits and culinary practices that guide the production and consumption of food across the country, to discover deep connections between diverse communities.

In order to better understand the Seacoast, help inform her site-specific work, and to encourage dialogue, the artist is collecting recipes and personal narratives about food traditions to be published in a series of printed catalogs as well as in an online archive. The Seacoast community is invited to contribute written recipes, food stories, and/or family pictures that are connected to our area.

Your recipe could be one handed down through the family for generations, something that was shared with you by a friend, or something that you developed on your own.

The printed catalog will take the form of a community/Junior League cookbook, alluding to the activist history of informal cookbooks as the sustenance of change in America. The catalogs will be available at the Opening Reception for Dish on Friday, June 7. Join us from 5 - 8pm to view the exhibit, meet the artist, and learn about our region’s foodways. The Gallery at 3S Artspace is always free and open to the public.
