First dates, last dates, dating apps, DMs, finding love, breaking up, moving in...
These stories are all fair game at the next Long Story Short live show. Whether you’re a serial monogamist, a committed singleton, or have given up on finding “the one” altogether, join us for chance to commiserate and laugh at the strange and mysterious practice of dating.
Featured storytellers:
Lindsey Di Costa
Lindsey hails from New Jersey but is a New Englander these days. Her story will tell the tale of getting dumped prom weekend and how she picked up the pieces in the days before heading off to college.
Heather Angell
Heather has worked as a farmhand, a healthcare chaplain, and a freelance snow shoveler and is now a high school teacher. This eclectic experience has given her plenty of fodder for stories, which she has told at the Moth, Stories from the Stage and other events. Heather shares a story about how a shelter-in-place order in Cambridge forced Heather to confront the underlying issues in her relationship.
Kim Golding
Kim is an elementary school Italian teacher in Portsmouth who lived in Italy for 10 years! She is sharing a story about her Italian grandmother’s first love, the written correspondence they exchanged, and how it affected how she looks at love.
Joe Randall
This local musician, photographer, writer, and Portsmouth native will share his story of how social media, smoking weed, and mental health impacted his perception of a close relationship, and, in turn, his relationship with himself.
Amanda Shedonist
Amanda is a poet and storyteller who loves laughing, cooking, and making mischief (some of my favorite things too). She’ll share a story that really shows that ghosting is the game no one wins.
Gabbie Kelly
Gabbie is a business mentor, speaker, and the woman behind The Profit Mama business consulting company, who will tell a story about listening to the voice that exists under the noise and letting your truth be bigger than your plan.
Long Story Short will be formatted for special radio programs on New Hampshire Public Radio in 2025!
A broadcast version of the all Long Story Short events will air as part of the “NHPR Presents” series, which aims to work with arts and culture nonprofit organizations across the state to bring similar community events to the air.
