What happens when you take Couch to Mic and make it extra gay? You get Couch to Mic: Pride Edition — a joyful, queer-centered twist on the comedy experience!
While Couch to Mic has always been and will always be a welcoming space for ALL voices, this special edition takes place during Pride Month celebrations, and is designed by and for the queer community. It’s a space where shared identity meets shared laughter, and where queer joy takes center stage.
Over four weeks, LGBTQ+ participants will write, workshop, and rehearse their own original comedy material. In week five, they’ll perform live on stage — supported by new friends, chosen family, and a whole lot of love.
Facilitated by Steph Lazenby and queer comedy muppet Rachel Neubauer — a four-time C2M alum who’s just as comfortable cueing lights as they are coming out of closets — this session brings mentorship, community, and glittering authenticity.
The live performance takes place on June 26 — all friends, family, and fierce allies are welcome.
And one more thing: your comedy doesn’t have to be about your queerness (unless you want it to be). Your material can be about anything — awkward Zoom calls, exes with pet snakes, weird childhood vacations. Your identity is just one part of your story — and this is your comedy journey.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS
Stephanie Lazenby (she/her):
Stephanie S. Lazenby is a writer, performer and educator. She brings over twenty five years of experience to all of her creative endeavors. She is a juried Artist in Residence through the New Hampshire State Council of the Arts. In addition to hosting Couch to Mic, most recently, Stephanie premiered her solo original stage show Where Do I Begin? At New Hampshire Theatre Project.
Rachel Neubauer (they/she):
Rachel is a Sound, Lighting, and Video Designer, Technical Director, and Production Manager with over 200 theatrical credits. Rachel began as a musician (started at age 4, peaked in their high school West Side Story pit orchestra where they first discovered the joy of flailing wildly while seated) and now has a desk job and moonlights as an amature comedian, proving that comedy is just theatre with more hecklers, but hopefully this go around with an equal amount of queer representation.
They hold two fancy degrees from Berklee College of Music, which they use primarily to argue about microphone placement and dismantle the gender binary - often simultaneously. Rachel lives in Dover, NH, in a carefully balanced ecosystem of three humans, three dogs, and a relentless quest for a fourth dog to achieve true chaos.
