Artist Statement

Images of birds from vintage books and the paper detritus of everyday life collide in the mixed media collages that comprise dis/placement. By layering, transforming, and juxtaposing these disparate elements, the artist explores themes of disconnection, loss, and longing on personal, societal and environmental levels. At turns beautiful, weird, mysterious, and humorous, the collages ask us to reconsider both the things we regularly overlook and discard and also what we risk by doing so.

Artist Bio

Rod Boyer

New Hampshire-based artist Rod Boyer alters, recontextualizes, and recombines vintage book pages, found objects, product packaging, ephemera, and other refuse to create mixed media collages that outline an “ecology of possibility” for those parts of ourselves and our world that are so often pushed aside, discarded, or abandoned.
