Learn how to create lumen prints on silver gelatin paper guided by exhibiting artist, Shaina Gates.

This experimental photographic technique produces unexpectedly colorful images using only silver gelatin paper (i.e. black and white photographic paper), the sun, and salt.

Shaina will share a variety of techniques for making lumen prints, including the use of photographic sources, found objects, and painterly manipulations. This medium allows for a range of approaches—from expressive and gestural, to methodical and precise.

No prior artistic or photographic experience necessary.

Students will leave with the knowledge and basic supplies to continue making lumen prints on their own, using indoor or outdoor work-spaces.
