3S Artspace presents:

a workshop for the next generation of designers

Monday, February 24 - Friday, February 28

Due to low enrollment, the Fashion ReWERKED Workshop  has been canceled. Refunds are being issued at point of purchase. We are looking into ways to offer this awesome workshop in the spring and/or summer, so please stay tuned for announcements. Sign up for our e-newsletter by clicking here.

Back by popular demand! Let's train the next generation of designers!

This five-day intensive introduces middle school students (grades 6 - 9) to the basics of sewing and fashion design in the inspiring Gallery at 3S Artspace.

With the guidance of emerging designer (and Project Upcycle alumni!) Justin Love, the week begins with a review of basic sewing tools and skills, fabric identification and manipulation, and design thinking. After that, students will transition into personal projects.

On the final day, the workshop culminates in a fashion show for friends and family, showcasing the work created by students during the week-- all set to tunes spun by students in our MIXX DJ workshop!

Our goal?  We want students to leave the workshop with new skills and inspiration to express themselves through sewing and fashion.

Lead Instructor:
Justin Love

Project Upcycle Designer 2019
Justin Love is a Maine artist whose work spans painting, printmaking, sewing, and sculpture in their constant search for how we make ourselves. Justin is excited to explore this notion through the design and creation of clothing with students enrolled in Fashion ReWERKED!

Assistant Instructor:
Olivia Dwyer
Winner of and designer in Project Upcycle 2019
Olivia Dwyer received her BFA from Maine College of Art in 2018. Since then she has produced fashion that explores both emotion and expression, while focusing on sustainability and raising awareness about our environmental responsibility. She has worked as a production seamstress and product developer for two local companies, participated in various art and fashion shows (Project Upcycle!) and is currently the studio monitor at MECA.
