Showmen's Rest in "See People Care" w/ Andrea Ward Saturday, November 11 Doors 7pm / Show 8pm $20 Member / $25 General Admission Advance / $30 GA Day of Show All ages / Partially seated
Showmen’s Rest— the indie-rock brainchild of Portland Renaissance man Jimmy Dority— presents an immersive multimedia experience featuring songs of hurt, hope, and healing.
Conceived in the isolated tumult of lockdown, the band’s forthcoming album Porch Talk features songwriter Jimmy Dority with a supporting cast of musicians: Mike Effenberger, Nick Phaneuf, Alex Ouellette, and Anthony Branca.
For this special performance, they are joined by visual artist Stu Dias for a fully staged multi-movement show with video, animation, and set design. This wide-spanning theatrical exploration presents music that mines the heart in search of connection, meaning, and peace in dark times.
About Andrea Ward: Andrea Ward merges music and dance into an ethereal experience of exotic rhythm. She plays kalimba and steel tongue drum, with sinuous vocal harmonies radiating an aqueous atmosphere of sound. Her lyrics discuss the nature of the unconscious mind, and consciousness at large, creating a performance both enigmatic and honest.
