Shabazz Palaces is a Seattle-based experimental hip-hop group led by Ishmael Butler, aka Palaceer Lazaro (formerly Butterfly of jazz–hip hop group Digable Planets)   Shabazz Palaces are one of the few hip-hop acts to be signed to the Sub Pop label and releasing its debut full-length album, Black Up to wide critical acclaim in 2011. The work of Shabazz Palaces differs from his previous work stylistically. He cites his primary influences as "abstract," pulling from podcasts and mixtapes. Butler attributes the use of African percussion and jazz overtone's to his family's musical preferences. Any fans of 1990's group Digable Planets must come and experience the sounds and style of Shabazz Palaces.

The night will also feature the multi-instrumentalist Tendai "Baba" Maraire, son of Mbira master Dumisani Maraire. This creative genius is not to be missed!
